Now see that on someday you do not need as much electricity as you do daily. for example, you are going on vacations, your solar panels will be generating extra energy
that you do not need. If you have installed a on-grid solar power system, your energy will turn backwards. This means that you are adding energy onto the grid instead of taking from it. Your electricity company will you for that extra energy or you will get discounts on your bills. For this to work, you would first have to check the rules and regulations of your distributor company, that is to see whether if they pay or give discounts in such a situation.That depends upon your electricity connection.
HOW TO SETUP A SOLAR POWER PLANT AT HOME:
- Solar panels (12V)
- Solar charge controller (ampere rating depends on your requirement)
- Battery (12V)
- Inverter (220V or 110V)
- Solar panel fitting
- Wiring cables (both DC and AC)
1) SOLAR PANELS:
Number of solar panels you require depends upon your electricity wattage requirement.
For example:
If wan to operate 2 fans of 80W each and 2 energy savers of 20W each, you would require 3 solar panels of 100W each. If you select 150 W panels, you would require 2 such panels.
This is so because a 100W panel does not give 100W exactly, it can give upto 70W in bright sunlight.
Set the solar panels in the fittings southwards on the roof or backyard, with 30 degrees angle with normal.Solar panels give 12V.

2) SOLAR CHARGE CONTROLLER:

3) BATTERY:
You will require a 12V battery. The best battery would be a deep cycle solar battery.

4) INVERTER:
Inverter voltage depends upon your requirement i.e 110V or 220V. The best inverter is the pure sine wave inverter.

5) Cables:
You will require 6mm square cable for DC connections i.e. from panels to charge controller and from charge controller to the battery. From inverter you can you the ordinary cable you use with appliance.

Instead of using a inverter, you can also use DC 12V led lights or energy savers and fans. This will also reduce the initial cost since inverters are costly.

You can also connect your TV or computer, printers etc with the inverter and run them on free energy.
